About
Cattle camp crooner and balladeer, William Alexander sings with a true heart. At 28 years of age, William, who makes his living as a stockman in the Central West region of NSW, sings with a maturity beyond his years. Having learned to sing harmonies in church with his father, music has always been in his blood.
His strong voice and guitar playing, partnered with his life and experience working the land and livestock, make the magic in his ballads all the more authentic. Having been exposed to all kinds of music through his parents, from Elvis Presley to 80s pop rock, it was the traditional music of Australia and Americas rural communities that took hold of him.
The songs of Slim Dusty were shared with the young William through an old family friend, and after school Alexander delved deep into the recordings of Tex Morton, Buddy Williams, Smoky Dawson and all the early pioneers.
Emulating the picking and singing (even yodeling) of the early record stars, an adult Alexander combined these styles with fresh, contemporary stories and themes. Based on his own lived experiences.
